Accident and Emergency

Accident and Emergency is for patients in critical or life-threatening situations. It is not the place to come with a twisted ankle or because you don’t trust your GP’s assessment of your athlete's foot.
Do not visit A+E unless you absolutely need to - if you're curious about what it's like then just watch an episode of popular hospital documentaries like Casualty or ER.

At St Bede’s we take the hygiene of hands incredibly seriously. You will be greeted by our hand cleaner Paul at reception and you will not be allowed to enter or exit the hospital until he has scrubbed your hands 17 times. Don’t worry, he’s very gentle.

We know you’ve been looking up your symptoms on the internet but that doesn’t make you a doctor. Please respect our staff, their medical diagnoses, and their treatment plans.

Visitors are not permitted to walk around the wards barefoot.
