Acute Medicine

Our Acute Medical Unit (AMU) is a dedicated facility within the hospital for patients that have presented as a medical emergency or who have developed an acute medical illness while in the hospital.
The unit treats patients before transferring them to a more specialised department or a general ward.
It is, in spite of its name, not our cutest medical unit.
Visiting Patients
Visitors are welcome from 14:00-20:00.

Public Announcements
#1
At St Bede’s we take the hygiene of hands incredibly seriously. You will be greeted by our hand cleaner Paul at reception and you will not be allowed to enter or exit the hospital until he has scrubbed your hands 17 times. Don’t worry, he’s very gentle.
#2
We know you’ve been looking up your symptoms on the internet but that doesn’t make you a doctor. Please respect our staff, their medical diagnoses, and their treatment plans.
#3
Visitors are not permitted to walk around the wards barefoot.
